Our 3rd, 4th and 5th class pupils are taking part in an exciting eTwinning project. We are partnering with schools in Turkey and Romania. Our aim is for pupils to improve their digital and mathematical skills while having fun.
As part of the project, pupils will use Scratch on school ipads. Scratch is a simple coding app designed for children. They will learn to create interactive projects, use coding to support mathematics learning and design their own digital stories.
A big focus next year will be storytelling. The pupils will retell our native myths and legends using Scratch and also learn about Romanian and Turkish legends. They will also learn about Turkey and Romania through a geography project.
The pupils will share their work with their partner classes in Turkey and Romania and see what they have created too. This will help them to build confidence, learn about different cultures and connect with children across Europe.
This project will foster creativity, teamwork and mathematical skills. It supports our use of technology in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
The eTwinning project team consists of our principal Ciara Sheehy, Gary Bateman, Therese McCormack and Louise Ryan. Many thanks to them for their work on this project.
We will keep you updated through our social media and website and look forward to sharing the pupils’ work with you.
